After the exterminator. Certified removal, disinfection and odor treatment.
Do not sweep it. Do not vacuum it. That is what puts it into the air you breathe.
Rodent droppings, urine and nesting material can carry hantavirus. In Utah it is spread by deer mice, and the Utah Department of Health and Human Services warns about it every spring when people start cleaning out sheds, cabins, garages and crawl spaces.
The danger is dust. Sweeping and vacuuming stir contaminated particles into the air, which is exactly how it gets into your lungs. The safe method is the opposite: wet the area down first, never dry-sweep, use proper respiratory protection, and dispose of everything as regulated waste.
That is the job we are trained and equipped for.
If it's an attic or a crawl space you'd rather not go into yourself, that's fine, and if you'd rather we didn't come to the house yet, we can assess it by video call or from photos you send.
The assessment is free either way, and there's no obligation afterwards.
The most common, and usually the worst. Contaminated insulation often has to come out entirely rather than be cleaned.
Buildings that sit closed for months are where Utah's spring-cleaning hantavirus warnings are aimed.
Behind appliances, inside cabinetry and under units. Food contact areas need proper disinfection, not a wipe down.
New Path is not a pest control company and we don't pretend to be. We do not set traps, apply rodenticide, or seal entry points, because that is licensed work belonging to someone else.
Get the rodents dealt with first. Cleaning before the infestation is stopped just means doing it twice. If you don't have an exterminator, we'll happily point you at one.
Once they're gone, we handle everything they left.
If you're an exterminator in Utah County, you already get asked who cleans up the mess. It isn't your job, you probably don't want it, and right now you're likely telling the customer to handle it themselves.
Send them to us instead. We stay strictly on our side of the line, we never touch pest control work, and we refer extermination straight back to you.
